Steve Chapman, the owner of Chapman Wood Products, started cutting timber when he was just 17 when he ran out of hay to haul one balmy July day. Within two weeks of working at the local sawmill, they had run out of logs. At that point the boss suggested he try finding some logs so their pending orders could be filled, and 2 days later Steve was cutting logs on a neighbor’s property. Things continued like this until Steve’s senior year.

25 years ago Steve bought a new sawmill because no one was doing custom sawing anymore. Since then, it has grown from 1 building for the mill to 7 for drying and storing lumber and building things for customers, like Specialty Tables, Slab Tables, Natural Edge Countertops, Natural Edge Bar Tops, Rustic Tongue and Groove Wood Flooring, and 3-6″ flooring.
